Clay is everywhere.
It is in the soil, the NASA Space Shuttle, magazine paper, and also in our ceramic studio.
For this project, you will create a work that exhibits a non-traditional use of the material.
Try to think different about clay than you have been, trying to look at it just purely for what it is, and not what you’ve become accustomed seeing it do.
How has this opened up new opportunities for you as a ceramic artist?
What is traditional anyway?
Isn’t it more traditional for clay to be in the earth’s crust?
One example is Alexandra Engelfriet‘s work. As you can see, she is using non-traditional ways of thinking to create these powerful site specific clay installations.
