Pinch pots

For this assignment, you will make 3 pinch pots to familiarize yourself with the clay and participate in a lineage of clay working by human beings that stretches back 20,000 years. Throughout human history, people have used this simple process to make vessels from clay dug directly from the ground. You don’t need any external tools to make pinch pots, just your hands. Therefore, this is one of the most direct and essential ways of working with clay.

Here’s a demonstration video to walk you through the process.

Practice, practice, practice! The 3 you turn in for this assignment don’t have to be the first 3 you make. They can be the best 3.
