Kris Grey Artist Lecture!! Mon, Nov. 15th 1:30pm in the ceramics area

“Queering the Body / Performing the Subject”

An artist talk exploring the body as site for, and subject of, gendered performance. Kris Grey, will provide a historic and social context for several contemporary performance artists. The lecture will explore the question of where to seat artists who make work on the edge of aestheticism and activism. The relevance of iteration and re-performance will be investigated with challenging and diverse examples. There will be a strong emphasis on gender constructions, women, and queer artists.

Kris Grey received a BFA in Ceramics with a minor in Language and Literature form the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2003 and is currently pursuing an MFA at Ohio University. Kris’ alter-ego, Justin Credible, has been active in the performing arts and drag scenes in the Baltimore, DC Metro area and was an organizing member of the Charm City Kitty Club from 2005-2009
